Ep. #98: Camp Movie Night – Heavyweights

We’re back with another camp movie night review, this time of the mid-90s Disney film “Heavyweights”, as written by Judd Apatow and starring his frequent collaborator Ben Stiller (among others, including a youthful Kenan Thompson), and we are happy to be joined for this reminiscence by Benji Lovitt and Esther Kustanowitz, both of whom know their way around comedy and popular culture.

What did we think of the movie, 30 years after it’s debut? How did the portrayal of summer camp hold up? Take a listen and find out!

  1. I always love these movie episodes, they’re such a great idea that encourages discussion. I’m not sure if Micah reads these comments, but your next movie has to be Summerhood (which the director kindly put on YouTube for free). It’s an indie film, but the most “real” feeling camp movie I’ve ever seen. Cheers and best of luck with whatever you guys are all planning for summer 2024!
